Velez v. Wakefield & Associates, Inc.
Filed: February 6, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv20453
Wakefield & Associates faces a class action claiming it mailed a collection notice in which it did not specify the amount of interest owed.
Florida
Wakefield & Associates, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action filed by a Florida man over suspected violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). The plaintiff claims the defendant mailed a notice in which it failed to specify the amount of interest owed, the applicable interest rate, the date of accrual of interest and other items, which the case says collectively amount to a failure to convey the amount of debt owed. The supposed omissions, the lawsuit argues, left the plaintiff unable to determine what needs to paid to resolve the debt at any given point in the future.
