Correa v. North American Recovery et al
Filed: April 2, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv1375
A proposed class action has been filed against North American Recovery (N.A.R.) alleging that the debt collector falsely threatened to add interest and other fees to a consumer’s account.
Pennsylvania
A proposed class action has been filed against North American Recovery (N.A.R.) alleging that the debt collector falsely threatened to add interest and other fees to a consumer’s account. The plaintiff claims she received a collection letter from the defendant that listed her account balance and contained the following statements:
As of the date of this letter, this is the amount due. Because of interest or other charges that may vary from day to day, the amount due on the day you pay may be greater.”
According to the complaint, the plaintiff’s creditor never authorized the defendant to add interest or “other charges” to the plaintiff’s balance, meaning the statements in the letter were false and unlawfully threatened the woman in violation of federal law.
