A California man claims in a proposed class action lawsuit that after he filled out an online form to become a driver for defendant DoorDash, Inc.’s online food delivery marketplace, the company unlawfully began sending him automated text messages, an alleged violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The plaintiff claims he began receiving the texts, which invited him to complete his DoorDash driver profile, in October 2016. After texting the word “STOP” to the defendant to opt out of the communications—and being told he had successfully unsubscribed—the unsolicited messages allegedly continued.
