Class Action Claims I.C. System Debt Notice Falsely Hinted at Attorney Involvement

Campbell v. I.C. System, Inc.
Filed: October 5, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-01111-BKS-DJS
A consumer alleges I.C. System sent two notices in which it falsely hinted an attorney would get involved in collecting a debt.
A New York consumer alleges in a proposed class action lawsuit that defendant I.C. System, Inc. sent her two debt collection notices in which it unlawfully threatened attorney involvement when no such referral of the plaintiff’s debt to a law firm was ever intended. Noting that the plaintiff’s debt supposedly totaled $488.23, the lawsuit claims the defendant’s collection notices, which, the case says, allegedly failed to provide enough detail as to the woman’s annual interest accrual rate, were meant to impart a false sense of urgency by creating the illusion the plaintiff’s debt would immediately be referred to an attorney unless payment was submitted.
