Jocelyn v. Enzymatic Therapy, Llc
Filed: January 26, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv564
A New York consumer has filed suit against Enzymatic Therapy, LLC over claims that its Ultra Liver Cleanse and Complete Liver Cleanse products do not perform as advertised.
A New York consumer has filed suit against Enzymatic Therapy, LLC over claims that its liver cleanse products do not perform as advertised. The suit takes issue with the defendant’s Ultra Liver Cleanse and Complete Liver Cleanse products, alleging that the company represents to consumers that the supplements “have drug-like effects” when they cannot actually “remove toxins” and cleanse the liver as claimed. In fact, the complaint argues, the products “cannot replicate or even approximate the liver’s functions, nor can they detoxify and cleanse the liver itself.”
The suit then delves into a series of citations from medical professionals who claim that “detoxification” is a misapplied term used by “entrepreneurs, quacks and charlatans” to mislead consumers into paying for useless products.
“Anyone whose liver actually requires detoxification should be in the emergency room, not scouring pharmacy shelves for the [defendant’s products],” the complaint asserts.
The suit seeks to enjoin the defendant from its supposedly deceptive marketing practices and repay consumers like the plaintiff who have allegedly been tricked into paying for products that have “no value whatsoever.”
