Wisconsin
From federal court in Wisconsin comes a proposed class action that alleges defendant Central Collection Corporation ran afoul of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by allegedly failing to identify in a collection notice the original creditor to whom the plaintiff’s debt is owed. According to the case, the defendant identified the “client name” on the notice as “920.71,” while also allegedly failing to clearly state the amount due for payment, which was listed as $0.00.
“The unsophisticated consumer would have no idea why [the defendant] had sent a collection letter seeking to collect ‘$0.00,’ and which included ‘a demand for payment in full today’,” the lawsuit says.
