Ford v. Alpha Recovery Corp et al
Filed: September 24, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv5366
Alpha Recovery Corp and Jefferson Capital Systems allegedly attempted to collect a debt that a consumer did not actually owe.
New York
Alpha Recovery Corp and Jefferson Capital Systems, LLC are the defendants in a proposed class action alleging the companies attempted to collect a debt that the plaintiff did not actually owe.
According to the suit, the plaintiff received a letter from Alpha Recovery dated February 16, 2018 regarding a debt supposedly owed to Jefferson Capital. On March 1, the case continues, the man went on to request verification of the debt. He then received a letter from Jefferson dated March 2, 2018, informing him that the agency had “ceased collection of this account,” the case explains. Alpha Recovery allegedly never responded.
The plaintiff claims he did not owe any money to Jefferson Capital and never contracted with the company. The suit argues that the February letter, therefore, constituted a false representation of the man’s debt and failed to properly convey the name of his creditor.
