Traylor v. Account Services Collections, Inc.
Filed: December 20, 2018 ◆§ 3:18cv3352
A proposed class action claims that Account Services Collections, Inc. sent a consumer a letter that did not properly identify the woman’s creditor.
Texas
A proposed class action claims that Account Services Collections, Inc. sent a consumer a letter that did not properly identify the woman’s creditor.
Filed in Texas, the suit says that the July 2018 collection notice stated “RE: UTSW MEDICAL CENTER” and went on to disclose:
“Please be advised that your past due account has been referred to this office for collection by UTSW MEDICAL CENTER.”
According to the complaint, the entity “UTSW MEDICAL CENTER” is not registered with the Texas Secretary of State. As such, the case argues, the plaintiff could not understand the letter’s “vague referral to an equally vague company name,” leaving her uncertain as to whom the debt was owed.
