A New York consumer has filed suit against CAC Financial Corp. over allegations that the defendant violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) by failing to clearly specify the amount of her purported debt. The debt collector supposedly sent the plaintiff a letter that stated a balance of $628.48, but failed to inform her whether the debt was subject to interest. As a result, the suit argues, the plaintiff was unsure as to how much she would need to pay on a given day to settle her account.
