New York
ProHealth Corp. and ProHealth Care Associates, LLP are facing a blind man’s Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) lawsuit that claims the companies failed to design a website that allowed equal access to visually impaired internet users. According to the suit, the defendants operate healthcare facilities across New York, along with a website that provides online access to their goods and services, including information about the treatments offered, documents required, and insurances accepted. Users can also find out if they need an appointment and pay their bills online, the suit says.
The complaint argues that the defendants’ website operates as a “gateway” to its physical locations and that, under the ADA, visually impaired individuals must have equal access to the services offered. The plaintiff demands that the defendants update their website to allow the use of a keyboard and be compatible with screen-reading technology, enabling blind individuals to freely navigate site content.
