Barnett v. Premtech, Llc et al
Filed: April 9, 2018 ◆§ 0:18cv60767
Premtech, which does business as Bitcoin Depot, allegedly sent automated text messages to consumers without first obtaining consent.
The company that does business as Bitcoin Depot is facing a proposed class action in which the plaintiff claims the cryptocurrency mover sent out thousands of illegal text messages in an effort to promote its Bitcoin ATMs. According to the complaint, Premtech, LLC sent the texts without first obtaining express written consent from recipients, as required by the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
“These messages were sent using mass-automated technology either directly or through a third-party company hired by [the defendants] to send marketing text messages on [the defendants’] behalf en masse,” the lawsuit claims.
