BET Interactive, LLC is facing a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it violated the Americans with Disabilities Act by failing to provide closed captioning for videos on its website. The plaintiff in the case, a deaf New York man, alleges that he attempted to watch a news video on the defendant’s website – www.bet.com – but was unable to understand the video’s content due to the lack of closed captioning. The suit argues that the defendant’s site unlawfully discriminates against the deaf population by denying them equal access to the goods and services it offers.
