Rendon v. Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc.
Filed: August 17, 2017 ◆§ 9:17-cv-80960-DMM
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. has been accused once again of falsely labeling its “100% Egyptian Cotton” products.
Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. has been accused once again of falsely labeling its “100% Egyptian Cotton” products. A proposed class action lawsuit filed in Florida alleges the defendant’s “Damask Stripe 500 Thread Count 100% Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheets” actually only contain 16 percent Egyptian cotton.
According to the suit, consumers will pay a premium price for Egyptian cotton products, which the complaint claims are softer and of better quality than products made with other types of cotton. The plaintiff says she bought the defendant’s bed sheets based on claims that they were made from a high-quality material and therefore overpaid for linen that was of less value than she expected.
On top of that, the suit claims the defendant’s allegedly false labeling is a danger to consumers with textile allergies who may purchase the product expecting it to be free of allergens.
The suit seeks to cover the following proposed class:
“All United States residents who purchased Damask Stripe 500 Thread Count 100% Egyptian Cotton Bed Sheets (the ‘Product’) from Defendant Bed Bath & Beyond, Inc. (‘Defendant’) in the United States from the four years preceding the filing of this complaint to present (‘Class Period’).”
