White v. Audi AG et al
Filed: December 16, 2016 ◆§ 3:16-cv-03037-H-JMA
Audi AG and Audi of America, LLC are the defendants in yet another proposed class action over the companies' tactics used to sway federal emissions testing results.
Audi AG and Audi of America, LLC are the defendants in yet another proposed class action over the companies’ tactics used to sway federal emissions testing results on its vehicles. Filed in California, the lawsuit claims the use of an illegal “defeat device,” which can allegedly fool governmental emissions tests into thinking the vehicles give off less carbon dioxide gases, is deceptive because it falsely represents the cars’ true emissions numbers. According to the complaint, proposed class members suffered economic damages as a result of the defendants’ fraudulent representations of its vehicles emissions levels and would not have paid a premium price for the cars had they known they were “incapable of providing the balance of performance, fuel efficiency, and cleanliness that Audi advertised.”
