Allison v. CenturyLink Incorporated et al
Filed: July 6, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-02162-BSB
Arizona is the latest state to see a class action filed against CenturyLink over the company's alleged practice of making false and unauthorized charges.
CenturyLink, Inc. CenturyLink Public Communications, Inc. CenturyLink Sales Solutions, Inc.
Arizona
A proposed class action has been filed on behalf of Arizona consumers against CenturyLink, Inc. and three subsidiaries over the companies’ alleged practice of adding false and unauthorized charges to customers’ telephone and/or internet accounts. Joining a handful of lawsuits recently filed against the embattled telecomm unit over similar allegations, the 24-page complaint claims the defendants have shifted the lofty burdens set by CenturyLink’s incentive-laden sales programs onto consumers, who the case alleges CenturyLink has dared to “locate the overcharges and then demand refunds.” These sales programs, with fee generation at the heart of CenturyLink’s business model, provided financial incentives to sales agents to charge customers for services they never ordered, as well as overcharging for services they did order, the lawsuit alleges.
“This type of catch-us-if-you-can policy was unfair, deceptive and misleading,” according to the lawsuit.
The defendants named in the complaint are:
- CenturyLink, Inc.
- CenturyLink Communications, LLC,
- CenturyLink Public Communications, Inc.
- CenturyLink Sales Solutions, Inc.
