Weiss et al v. Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc.
Filed: March 22, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-01035-TWT
Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc. has been hit with another lawsuit following its reported data breach, this time on behalf of the restaurant's customers.
Arby’s Restaurant Group, Inc. has been hit with another lawsuit following its reported data breach, this time on behalf of people in the U.S. who made credit or debit card purchases at affected Arby’s restaurants between October 20, 2016 and January 12, 2017. The complaint claims hackers began accessing Arby’s point-of-sale systems in October to steal customers’ credit and debit card information. The breach allegedly remained undetected for three months, causing thousands of customers to be at risk of or suffer identity theft. Plaintiffs argue that Arby’s should have protected customer information by implementing adequate security systems that would have prevented the data breach or detected it earlier. In addition to the proposed nationwide class, a subclass of Connecticut residents has also been proposed.
