Vivint Solar Developer, LLC is facing a proposed class action out of California that claims it broke state law by having customers who didn’t speak English as their first language sign English-language contracts. The suit calls the alleged conduct a “scheme…which involves making significant amounts of money…through false, deceptive, and misleading means.”
According to the suit, the defendants solicited new business in person at the homes of California residents. Despite allegedly negotiating contracts for the installation of solar panels in languages other than English, the defendant had customers sign contracts written in English only, and failed to provide proper translations of these documents, the suit says. Furthermore, the plaintiff claims he was promised savings on his energy bill that he never actually saw after installing the solar panels.
