Anker Innovations Limited and Anker Technology Corporation are among the defendants in a lawsuit that alleges consumers have been deceived into buying portable power bank device chargers with substantially lower charging capacities than advertised.
Naming Power Mobile Life, LLC and Fantasia Trading, LLC as Anker’s co-defendants, the case, which seeks class action status, alleges the charging capacity of the companies’ power banks, measured in milliampere-hours (mAh), is “substantially inflated.” Citing testing done by the plaintiffs through a third-party company, the case says that, for instance, a power bank the defendants claim to have a 20,100 mAh charging capacity actually clocks in at only 12,088; the other plaintiff’s power bank, which he bought with the understanding it would have a 5,200 mAh capacity, reportedly only came in at 3,285.
“Anker has profited enormously from its false and misleading representations about the Products,” the suit reads.
