Vereit, Inc. has been hit with a class action alleging the real estate operating company ran afoul of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Vereit, Inc. has been hit with a class action alleging the real estate operating company ran afoul of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by erecting non-compliant accessibility barriers in parking lots and travel paths at places it owns or operates nationwide. The plaintiffs, one of whom is wheelchair-bound, claim they were denied “full and equal access” as a result of the defendant’s alleged systematic discrimination against people with mobility-related disabilities at its facilities.
At the heart of the suit are numerous properties in Pennsylvania, Ohio and California owned by the defendant that plaintiffs say have non-compliant handicap-accessible parking spaces—including some that are not marked with “van accessible” signs—and entrance ramps with slopes that exceed the percentage permitted by the ADA.
