American Express Company is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit that alleges the company unlawfully placed autodialed calls to a consumer’s cell phone without her prior express consent. Citing possible violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the lawsuit claims the plaintiff answered several of the defendant’s calls and was greeted with a prerecorded voice “explaining that Defendant was calling for someone other than and unknown to” the woman. The plaintiff says she is not an American Express customer, has never had a business relationship with the company, and never consented to receiving the automated calls.
