A New York man has filed suit against Alltran Financial, LP (which was formerly known as United Recovery Systems, L.P.) over claims that the debt collector unlawfully misrepresented the amount of his alleged debt. According to the suit, the defendant sent the plaintiff a collection letter that stated his “Account Balance,” but failed to indicate whether the amount would increase due to interest or other fees. As a result, the complaint argues, the plaintiff was unable to determine if any payment he made would satisfy the debt, which the suit says is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
