Aker v. Alltran Financial LP
Filed: July 18, 2017 ◆§ 2:17-cv-00985
Debt collector Alltran Financial, LP has been accused of misleading consumers by falsely claiming it holds a state-issued Wisconsin Collection Agency license.
Alltran Financial, LP has been accused of misleading consumers by falsely claiming it is “authorized or approved” as a debt collector by the Wisconsin state government. In a proposed class action lawsuit, a consumer claims he received a letter from Alltran that included the following statement: “This collection agency is licensed by the Division of Banking in the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions, www.wdfi.org.” In actuality, the suit argues, Alltran is not listed on the Division of Banking’s website and does not actually hold a Wisconsin Collection Agency License. The complaint alleges that the defendant’s claim of legitimacy and power is illegal under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and unjustly threatens consumers into paying off their debts.
