Florida
Allied Collection Service, Inc. is on the receiving end of a proposed class action lawsuit filed by a Florida woman who claims the debt collector misled her as to the amount of her supposed debt. According to the complaint, the defendant sent the plaintiff a collection letter that listed her “Amount Due” along with an amount of “Fees/Interest,” but failed to indicate whether the account balance would continue to increase. The suit argues that by failing to itemize the added charges, the debt collector did not clearly communicate the amount of the plaintiff’s alleged debt and provide her with enough information to calculate how much she truly owed on a given day.
