AllianceOne Receivables Management, Inc. is facing a proposed class action filed by a California man over claims that the defendant records calls placed to consumers’ cell phones without their knowledge or consent. The plaintiff alleges the defendant contacted him on three occasions attempting to collect a debt and spoke with him for one to three minutes during each call. The man says he was never informed that the calls were being recorded and never consented to such recording, noting that the information discussed was “private in nature” and concerned “sensitive financial and legal matters.” According to the complaint, the plaintiff only discovered the calls were being recorded after asking the defendant’s representative toward the end of the third call.
