The $600,000 deal received preliminary approval from the court earlier this month and covers roughly 17,662 United States residents whose personal information was compromised in the Hi-School data breach, which was disclosed by the company on or around December 5, 2023.
To receive a Hi-School settlement payout, class members must submit a valid, timely claim form online through the court-approved settlement website once it is launched.
ClassAction.org will update this page if and when the official Hi-School settlement website is established.
Court documents share that class members can file a claim form to receive up to $5,000 in reimbursement for out-of-pocket losses incurred as a result of the Hi-School Pharmacy data breach. Claim forms must be submitted with supporting documentation.
Eligible data breach victims can also submit a claim form to receive two years of free identity theft and credit monitoring services.
In lieu of these two benefits, class members can opt to receive a pro-rated cash payment, court documents state.
The court will decide whether to grant final approval to the Hi-School Pharmacy settlement during a hearing on July 31, 2025. Typically, settlement payouts are distributed to eligible class members after a deal is ultimately approved by the court and any appeals are resolved.
The initial lawsuit against Hi-School claimed the company stored employees’ private information in a “reckless manner” within its computer network, leading to a “foreseeable and preventable” cyberattack. According to the case, cybercriminals stole the names, dates of birth and Social Security numbers of current and former Hi-School Pharmacy employees.
