Filed: December 13, 2023 ◆§ 1:23-cv-13077
Arietis Health faces a class action over a May 2023 data breach that reportedly compromised the private information of more than 1.9 million patients.
Arietis Health has agreed to pay $2,800,000 to settle a proposed class action lawsuit filed on behalf of those impacted by a massive 2023 data breach involving MOVEit, a file transfer platform Arietis used to send and receive sensitive patient information.

The Arietis settlement covers more than more than 1.9 million people in the United States who provided their personal information to Arietis Health, directly or indirectly, and whose data was included in files affected by the MOVEit security incident. The information compromised in the Arietis Health data breach included dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, parents’ maiden names, digital signatures, health insurance details, medical data and more, court documents say.
Eligible individuals can now file a claim form for compensation and other benefits through the official website for the deal, ArietisDataSettlement.com.
To submit an Arietis Health claim form online, head to this page and enter the unique ID found in the settlement notice you received. If you did not receive a notice or have lost yours, contact the settlement administrator to obtain your unique ID.
Class members can also download, print and mail in a PDF claim form.
The deadline to file an Arietis Health settlement claim form is April 3, 2025.

Class members who file a timely, valid claim form can get reimbursement for up to $5,000 in documented, out-of-pocket expenses “more likely than not” incurred as a result of the MOVEit data breach.
Covered individuals can also receive reimbursement for up to four hours of lost time spent responding to their receipt of notice of the breach, at a rate of $25 per hour.
“If you plan to make a claim for reimbursement of out-of-pocket losses and/or lost time, documentation must be provided to support your claim,” the settlement website says.
According to the site, acceptable documentation includes clear, readable copies of receipts, voided checks, bank statements or other documents showing the amount of your losses.
Finally, class members can submit a claim for four years of medical data monitoring, credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.
The Arietis Health data breach settlement received preliminary approval from the court in September 2024. Class action settlement benefits will be distributed to class members only after the court grants final approval to the settlement and any appeals are resolved. A final approval hearing will be held on April 3, 2025.
The class action suit against Arietis Health alleged the data breach was a result of the company’s failure to maintain basic cybersecurity measures.
Arietis Health, which provides healthcare billing services, was one of thousands of organizations that fell victim to the massive MOVEit data security incident. The company stated in an online notice that the incident exposed data belonging to patients of at least 54 healthcare providers tied to NorthStar Anesthesia, to whom Arietis provided medical billing services.
