Consumer Complaints: Sunroofs, Rear Windows Leak
Attorneys started looking into problems in the Ford F150s after finding a number of complaints online regarding water leaks. Some of these complaints can be read below [sic throughout].
“My sunroof wouldnt seal all the way. It looked like it was in the vent position. Water would leak in at the A pillars. I also had the problem with the shade going off track. It cost me over $400.00 at Ford for the repair. I bought the Ford Extra Care extended warranty and it wasn't covered.” Normikg, F150online.com
“I was also told that ALL sun roofs leak by a Ford dealer. Which is why the tray is there to let the water flow out of the truck through the tubes. I can see if you do not have that water tray that your sun roof will let water onto you then.” Mountaineer02v8, F150online.com
“Every time it rained, the rear window leaked and it was starting to smell pretty moldy. I took it to an auto glass shop - they said to take it to the dealer (ugh!). the dealer told me to take it to a body shop. I took it to another body shop and they called an independent auto glass guy and he said no problem - probably run about 75 bucks. I was amazed that there are so many postings by truck owners who have had this same leak problem, yet, none of the various shops (including the dealer) showed any indication of ever having heard of this problem.” pmr, Fordf150.net
“We've got a roof leak in ours as well - '14 Lariat with 502A package that comes with a moonroof and less than 3k miles. In our pitched driveway, it leaked pretty bad in the rear following down the rear seatbelts and left quite a stain on the headliner. I doublechecked the roof and it was closed tight - we haven't used the roof other than opening the visor to let some light in. Just venting, but I'm so frustrated with the (initial) quality and now the dealer experience.” LIEco, f150ecoboost.net
