Uponor Plumbing Fittings Dangerous and Defective
Last Updated on January 11, 2022
Uponor, INC. and its subsidiary Radiant Technology, Inc. (RTI) are facing possible legal action after some of their brass plumbing fittings were reported to provide extremely low water pressure or to fail prematurely, causing considerable property damage to homes, buildings, and belongings. Though these brass fittings do not say the company's name on them, they can be identified by the "P PEX" or "MB PEX" stamped on the side.
Uponor PEX brass fittings have been reported to leak or burst, causing extensive water damage to floors, walls, and personal property.
The failure of these fittings is because of a chemical reaction called dezincification. These Uponor PEX brass fittings have been reported to leak or burst, causing extensive water damage to floors, walls, and personal property. As well as bursting, these fittings can also result in decreased water pressure, which prevents appliances from receiving the amount of water they need to function.
Uponor have themselves filed a lawsuit against the company that manufactured the fittings, Unique Industrial Product Company, admitting in the lawsuit that the products they sold were "unreasonably dangerous," "defective," and "not in a good and merchantable condition." Uponor has stated that the failures of these PEX fittings are due to poor microstructure and pre-existing cracks. Uponor has ceased selling these products, but reportedly refuses to honor the warranties given to buyers by replacing the fittings or repaying the customers.
If you or a loved one has had damage to property or personal items possibly caused by the failure of an Uponor fitting, you may be eligible to enter a class action lawsuit to recover damages. Contact an Uponor class action lawyer by completing the "Report a Complaint" form on the right to learn about your rights and possibly pursue compensation for losses due to Uponor PEX fixture failures.
