Citibank Settles Call Recording Class Action
Citibank’s $1.55 million call recording settlement was granted final approval on Thursday. The lawsuit claimed that the bank illegally recorded account service phone calls without permission from the callers. The settlement fund will be distributed to 410 class members who will be receiving $2,350 each.
Fiat Chrysler Recalls Vehicles Over Airbag Defects
Fiat Chrysler announced that it will be recalling 1.9 million vehicles due to a potential airbag and seatbelt defects. According to the report, certain vehicles (list below) contain a defect that prevents airbags from deploying and seatbelts from automatically taking in slack if the vehicle is involved in a certain type of crash. Fiat Chrysler couldn’t provide more information about what sort of collisions could potentially manifest the defect. Here’s a list of the affected vehicles:
- 2011-2014 Chrysler 200
- 2010 Chrysler Sebring
- 2010-2012 Dodge Caliber
- 2000-2010 Dodge Avenger
- 2010-2014 Jeep Compass
- 2010-2014 Jeep Patriot
Vibrator Company Faces Lawsuit Over Data Tracking
Standard Innovation Corp. is facing a proposed class action claiming that it collects personal information through a smartphone-controlled vibrator. According to the lawsuit, the company’s We-Vibe sex toy can be controlled remotely via smartphone app and the company has been using the app to record when the device is used, what setting it’s used on as well as email addresses. The suit claims that Standard Innovations violated the Federal Wiretap Act and is looking to certify a nationwide class of people who bought the device and used the app to control it.
Hair Relaxer Lawsuits
Women who developed ovarian or uterine cancer after using hair relaxers such as Dark & Lovely and Motions may now have an opportunity to take legal action.
