Takata Airbag Recall Reaches New Heights
On Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration increased the scope of the Takata Corp. air bag inflator recall. With the addition of 35-40 million more units, the Takata recall is now the largest in United States history. The NHTSA announced that the monstrous recall will play out in phases until the end of 2019.
Nissan Rogues Recalled Over Defective Liftgates
Nissan has announced that it will be recalling close to 110,000 Rogue vehicles over potential issues with the cars’ rear liftgates. According to the NHTSA, a lack of sufficient anti-corrosion treatment may cause the rear liftgate support to break without warning. Nissan claims that the recall is a result of its cautiousness and that there haven’t been any reported incidents in the United States as of yet.
Tech Company Bitmicro Settles Wage and Hour Lawsuit
California-based tech company Bitmicro Networks Inc. has agreed to pay more than $170,000 to settle claims that it severely underpaid workers that it brought in from a Filipino subsidiary. The lawsuit claimed that Bitmicro violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by paying Filipino workers the same wages they were making in their home country, with no overtime pay. The suit claims the workers were earning as little as $1.66 per hour.
Hair Relaxer Lawsuits
Women who developed ovarian or uterine cancer after using hair relaxers such as Dark & Lovely and Motions may now have an opportunity to take legal action.
