Hooters Faces Wage and Hour Class Action
Hooters is looking at a proposed class action that claims the restaurant chain failed to pay employees proper overtime wages. Under Hooters’ policy, employees don’t qualify for overtime. The lawsuit, however, claims that this policy directly violates Fair Labor Standards Act. The suit is looking to compensate Hooters’ workers for lost wages.
More Lawsuits Hit Theranos, Walgreens
Theranos and Walgreens are facing another class action over their allegedly misleading blood tests, this time in Arizona. The blood testing device in question, Theranos’ Edison system, was used in Walgreens stores and marketed as “revolutionary” – which led people to believe the results would be accurate and quickly produced, even when they weren’t, according to the complaint. The lawsuits are looking to compensate anyone who paid for Theranos’ blood testing services.
WME IMG Settles Overtime Suit
Talent agency titan William Morris Endeavor (WME IMG) has agreed to pay $560,000 to settle claims that it didn’t pay Fashion Week workers their allotted overtime wages. If the settlement is granted final approval, it will end a Fair Labor Standards Act class action that was filed on behalf of nearly 82 workers hired for each Fashion Week since 2009.
