Zara Hit with Class Action Over Euro Price Tags
Fashion retailer Zara has been hit with a proposed class action in California claiming that it deceived customers by showing its prices in euros. According to the complaint, Zara also charged its fashion-savvy shoppers more than the exchange rate called for – allegedly charging $17.90 for T-shirts marked at €9.95 when they should actually cost $11.26. The lawsuit is looking to cover anyone in the U.S. who bought Zara products.
McDonald’s Recalls Kids Fitness Bands
McDonald’s has announced that it will be recalling 29 million children’s fitness trackers after receiving reports of blistering, burns and skin irritation. The STEP-iT fitness trackers were included in Happy Meals and Mighty Kids Meals between August 9th and August 17th when the company willingly halted distribution.
Planned Parenthood Settles Wage Suit
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles has agreed to pay $1.1 million to settle claims that it only paid employees half-time when they skipped meal breaks. If the settlement is granted final approval, 876 of the company’s California employees will receive compensation for their allegedly unpaid wages.
Abbott Labs’ Baby Food Suit Dismissed
A proposed class action claiming that Abbott Laboratories’ baby food was falsely advertised as organic was dismissed on Tuesday. The lawsuit claimed that Abbott was responsible for misleading customers with organic labels according to state law. Judge Pamela K. Chen found, however, that the products were legally organic under the federal Organic Food Production Act. Judge Chen is allowing the plaintiffs a chance to amend their complaint and refile it.
Hair Relaxer Lawsuits
Women who developed ovarian or uterine cancer after using hair relaxers such as Dark & Lovely and Motions may now have an opportunity to take legal action.
