Glassdoor Accused of Exposing Users’ Emails
Glassdoor is facing a putative class action for allegedly leaking the email addresses of 600,000 anonymous users. According to the suit, the job recruitment and review site informed its users about a change in its terms of use via email. The suit goes on to claim that the messages, however, displayed the email addresses of the recipients to everyone who got the email, which comes out to more than 2 percent of Glassdoor’s members. According to the complaint, Glassdoor violated the privacy rights of its members, who value their anonymity as they are encouraged to talk about potentially sensitive job details and don’t want to suffer retaliation.
VW to Recall Vehicles Over Airbag Software
Volkswagen is set to recall 14,535 Audi Q7s due to a software bug that can cause the airbags to deploy with excessive force. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s announcement, the 2017 Q7 airbags are currently using more force to deploy than allowed by federal safety standards, thereby increasing the risk of injury during a crash. Volkswagen hasn’t announced when it will begin recalling or fixing the vehicles.
Ford Escapes Engine Defect Suit
On Monday, Ford escaped a proposed class action over vehicles that could allegedly lose power during acceleration. According to the suit, Ford breached the warranties it had with its customers – but Judge Eduardo C. Robreno found differently. In granting summary judgment to Ford, Judge Robreno said that any warranties covering the drivers’ 2005 Ford Expeditions had previously expired and any repairs took place outside of the coverage period.
