Wahlburgers Faces Class Action Over Employee Wages
Wahlburgers (think Mark Wahlberg) is facing a putative class action claiming that its New York location cheated its employees out of their due pay. According to the suit, Wahlburgers Franchising violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by having their employees work without clocking on, establishing an illegal tip pool and failing to pay proper overtime wages. The lawsuit is looking to compensate nearly 100 current and former Wahlburgers employees from the restaurant’s Coney Island location.
Wells Fargo Agrees To Settle Robocalling Lawsuit
Wells Fargo’s proposed $30.4 million settlement, which would put to rest claims that it illegally used an autodialer to call cell phones, was granted preliminary approval on Thursday. The lawsuit claimed that the bank violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act when it robocalled cell numbers to inform people about overdrafts even if they weren’t Wells Fargo customers. If granted final approval, the settlement would compensate close to 6.4 million people.
California Supreme Court to Take on Starbucks Wage Suit
The California Supreme Court agreed to take on a lawsuit against Starbucks considering whether or not employees can bring wage and hour claims for small periods of unpaid time. According to the lawsuit, employees should be paid for all time worked and the few minutes closing up a Starbucks store after clocking off is unlawful. The lawsuit was previously being handled by the Ninth Circuit but now the Supreme Court will determine not only this case but how cases like it may rule in the future.

Women who developed ovarian or uterine cancer after using hair relaxers such as Dark & Lovely and Motions may now have an opportunity to take legal action.
