Kraft Heinz “Made In USA” Suit Dismissed
A proposed class action claiming that Kraft Heinz tricked customers into believing that its sauces were made in the United States – when they actually contained foreign ingredients – was dismissed from California federal court on Friday. Judge Michael M. Anello dismissed the case because the plaintiff didn’t offer sufficient evidence to back up her allegations.
Lawsuit: Chrysler’s Jeep Fix Damaged Vehicles Instead
Fiat Chrysler has been hit with a lawsuit claiming that a fix designed to keep certain Jeeps from slipping into neutral actually prevents the cars from entering low-gear four-wheel drive. According to the suit, Fiat Chrysler cut corners in 2013 when it recalled close to 300,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Commanders. Plaintiffs claim that, instead of fixing the defective parts, the company decided to install new software that ending up doing more harm than good.
GNC Faces Lawsuit Over Fake Sale Prices
General Nutrition Centers Inc. (GNC) is facing a proposed class action claiming that it used fake prices as a point of comparison to its “sale” prices, generating the illusion that customers would be saving more money than they actually were. You know how when you shop online the original price will be in grey type or crossed off to indicate that you’re getting a good deal? Well, the lawsuit claims that GNC’s products were never intended to be sold as these high, crossed-off prices – prices that weren’t “original” because they essentially never existed. The complaint says that thousands of consumers may have been affected.
Rightscorp Settles Robocalling Class Action
Rightscorp has settled claims that it robocalled consumers suspected of illegally downloading music. The lawsuit claimed that the copyright enforcement group violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act when it called close to 2,050 people.
Campbell Soup Co. Sued For Falsely Advertising Trans Fats
Campbell Soup Co. has been hit with a proposed class action claiming that it falsely advertises its Chunky Grilled Chicken & Sausage Gumbo soup. The lawsuit claims that because the soup contains trans fats, it is misleading for Campbell to advertise its soup as healthy. Allegedly, Campbell’s current marketing strategy violates the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act and false advertising law.
