Despite defense claims that Fitbit’s PurePulse heart rate tracking devices were not intended to be scientific or medical devices, Fitbit has been hit with a suit claiming that the devices are inaccurate and mis-record heart rates by a large margin. The plaintiffs assert that Fitbit deceived its customers by promoting advertisements portraying customers using the trackers during intense physical activity when in reality, the devices cannot accurately measure that level of activity.
