Chobani v. Dannon False Advertising Battle

“Sucralose? Why? That stuff has chlorine added to it!” This was the content of an advertisement by Chobani, which sparked an ongoing legal battle in the yogurt industry. The ad intended to draw attention to Chobani’s rival, Dannon, for the ingredients used in their “Light & Fit” Greek yogurt. Dannon responded with a letter stating that it believes Chobani’s ad was false – and also illegal. And what did Chobani do? The company answered with a lawsuit, looking to claim its spot as “only company selling yogurt without artificial sweeteners on a national scale.” Dannon filed a counterclaim, resulting in a court order barring Chobani from using the ads in question until the case is resolved.
