BP Organic Shingles Failure Reported Among Homeowners
Last Updated on January 11, 2022
According to consumer testimonies, BP organic shingles may not be as durable or as high of quality as they were marketed. Allegedly, some shingles manufactured by Building Products (BP) of Canada Corp. have performed poorly, with some failing within just two years of installation. The shingles in question include Eclipse GL, Rampart and ProStandard organic shingles. Consumers are alleging that BP placed a defective product on the market, touted its durability and quality, and then has refused to honor its warranty after failure. All warranties were offered for a minimum of twenty-five years.
These shingle problems threaten to damage other aspects of the house structure.
Allegedly, multiple problems have been associated with BP organic shingles, leading to their failure and possible damage to the rest of the house. These reported failures include warping, cracking, moisture invasion, bald spots, blistering, deterioration, curling, as well as other problems. Some consumers have even reported shingles even being blown off their roof. These shingle problems threaten to damage other aspects of the house structure, leaving them possibly unknowingly exposed to the elements, according to allegations. This may lead to the failure of other parts of the roof, as well as underlying walls, ceilings, felt, plaster, and sheetrock.
Warranties on BP shingles have been offered for as little as 25 and for as long as 35 years after installation. The warranty coverage is specific depending on when the shingles experience failure, but specifies that BP may repair or place defective shingles or reimburse the homeowner for the cost of replacement or repair. Allegedly, BP has refused to do so in many cases, claiming that the shingle problems were caused by ventilation problems, improper installation, and other factors outside of the shingle quality. The failures of BP organic shingles have cost some homeowners thousands and thousands of dollars in repair or replacement costs, despite the existence of a warranty.
The affected shingles include Eclipse GL, Rampart and ProStandard Building Products organic shingles. If you or a loved one has had roof deterioration or property damage as a result of the failure of BP organic shingles, you may be eligible to enter a class action lawsuit to pursue damages.
