BMW Lawsuit Claims Remote Lock Traps Keys, Kids in Cars

BMW drivers have filed a proposed class action that claims the company’s 2008-2015 X5 vehicles are equipped with defective “convenience” features. The manual states that the cars are not supposed to be able to lock when the remote is inside the vehicle. But, according to the lawsuit, vehicles have been locking themselves while the keys are inside, trapping the keys and, in some cases, children. The plaintiff is seeking cost reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses, among other damages, on behalf of the proposed class.
