Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are investigating whether a defect in Aquasana Claryum water filters is causing the products to crack, leak and damage surrounding property, including flooring and cabinets.
They have reason to suspect that the under-sink water filters may have been defectively designed and manufactured and are now looking into whether Aquasana can be sued through a class action lawsuit. But first, the attorneys need to hear from people who’ve had issues with their Aquasana Claryum water filters to continue their investigation.
Why Is Water Leaking from My Aquasana Claryum Water Filter?
It’s believed that the problem may stem from an issue with the products’ filter housing, the plastic casing that holds the filter cartridge in place and helps guide the water through it. Specifically, attorneys have reason to suspect that the filter housing may have been poorly designed and manufactured with substandard materials, such as unreinforced plastic, leaving the component weak and prone to cracking, fractures and leaking.
How Many People Have Experienced Problems?
Although the number of people and products affected by this possible defect is still unknown, many consumers who’ve experienced problems with their Aquasana Claryum water filter systems have posted complaints online. Some of these complaints include [sic throughout]:
I was wary of other customer reviews complaining of leaking but we needed an under sink filter for the PFAS in our public water supply. We hired a licensed plumber to install the unit. Despite this, one of the filters is leaking. The plumber made a second visit but was unable to remedy the leaking. It’s a good filter but in a very poor quality product.”

Purchased this water filter several years ago and it was working fine. We came home one afternoon and our kitchen was flooded. The hardwood floors had warped and there was water spraying out of the bottom of one of the canisters. From reviews I have read, this is a common problem…”

We purchased this under the counter Aquasana filtration system about three years ago. The water quality seemed good, and the only complaint initially was how difficult it was for me to change the filters. However, 2 weeks ago we woke up to the sound of rushing water. Our kitchen floor was covered with water, and our finished basement had 5 inches of water. One of the Aquasana filters had ruptured and the water was rapidly pouring out. Our basement was completely destroyed, carpets, ceilings and walls. Our kitchen floor was destroyed. This experience was so traumatic, I cannot begin to explain the stress we are under.”

After years of good water quality, the plastic casing of the red filter cracked and leaked causing thousands of dollars of water damage.”
