- How Could a Class Action Lawsuit Help?
- A lawsuit, if filed and successful, could allow consumers the chance to get back some of the money they spent on the baby products. It could also force the manufacturer to change the way it makes or advertises its products.
Attorneys would like to speak to individuals who purchased any of the following aden + anais products:
- Essentials Cotton Muslin Lovey
- Essentials Cotton Muslin Swaddles
- Essentials Cotton Muslin Changing Pad Cover
- Essentials Cotton Muslin Light Sleep Sack Flowers Bloom
- Cotton Muslin Fitted Playard Sheet
- Organic Cotton Burpy Bibs
They’re investigating whether these products contain harmful chemicals known as per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and, if so, whether consumers can get back some of the money they spent on the supposedly “non-toxic” baby products.
What Are PFAS and Why Might They Be in Consumer Products?
The term PFAS refers to a large group of manufactured chemicals that have been used in commercial, consumer and industrial products since the 1940s. PFAS have a lot of useful properties; for instance, they can make baby products waterproof and stain resistant.
Unfortunately, the chemicals have also been associated with harmful effects on both humans and the environment.
PFAS are often referred to as “forever chemicals” due to their near indestructibility and tendency to accumulate in the environment and the human body. Indeed, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency notes that “many PFAS are found in the blood of people and animals all over the world” due to their widespread use and persistence in the environment.
Particularly concerning for parents and caregivers, PFAS exposure has been linked to lower vaccine effectiveness and suppressed immune function, according to studies cited by the Environmental Working Group. Other health effects generally linked to PFAS include cancer, liver damage, fertility problems, thyroid disease and an increased risk of asthma.
Attorneys have reason to believe some of the baby products sold under the aden + anais brand may contain these dangerous chemicals and should never have been advertised as “non-toxic” and “eco-friendly.”
How Could a Class Action Lawsuit Help?
If filed and successful, a class action lawsuit could force aden + anais to change its marketing and provide some reimbursement to its customers.
