How Did We Get Here?
The Beyond Meat class action lawsuit claimed the company knowingly misled consumers about the content and quality of protein found in its plant-based products, which, per the case, contain significantly less high-quality dietary protein than what the label represents.
In addition, Beyond Meat failed to follow federal regulations with respect to appropriate testing methods for calculating protein content, the complaint charged.
The Beyond Meat lawsuit contended that, thanks to the allegedly deceptive advertising, the company has wrongfully profited at the expense of shoppers, who would not have purchased the products had they known the items were misrepresented.
