A New York man has filed a proposed class action lawsuit against Firstsource Advantage, LLC that claims the debt collector failed to clearly communicate in a collection letter the amount of its recipient’s alleged debt. Firstsource supposedly sent a letter to the plaintiff that contained an “account balance,” but neglected to mention whether the balance was accruing interest, whether interest would be waived, or whether other fees would be applied to the amount in the letter. As a result, the plaintiff argues that he was unable to calculate his payments on the alleged debt and could not determine an appropriate response to the letter.
