A class action filed in New Jersey against Enterprise Rent-A-Car claims the rental car company illegally double bills drivers for tolls.
A class action filed in New Jersey against Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Highway Toll Administration, LLC claims the rental car company illegally double bills drivers for tolls and administrative fees even though they have already been paid through the use of personal EZPass transponders. The plaintiff, the complaint details, claims he paid a toll using his personal EZPass transponder while driving one of the defendant’s vehicles, only to later be charged $14, plus a $13 administration fee, for the same toll.
Even though Enterprise offers a fee for using their TollPass devices, it provides customers with the option of using their own EZPass tags in rental cars. The plaintiff says he used his own EZPass tag to pay for a trip through the Holland Tunnel into New York City, but received a letter from Enterprise saying his rental car went through the tunnel without paying the toll. The lawsuit says both defendants intentionally double bill drivers in violation of New Jersey consumer protection laws.
