Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. is in a familiar position this week as the disgraced financial institution is the defendant in yet another proposed class action lawsuit. The case, filed in California, claims Wells Fargo violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by calling consumers’ cell phones via an automatic dialing system for non-emergency purposes. The Florida man behind the action, who was never a Wells Fargo customer, alleges the bank between August 2016 and March 2017 placed at least 15 calls to his cell phone regarding a credit card debt “owed by a person unknown to the plaintiff,” the lawsuit reads.
