The court-approved website for the CBN privacy settlement can be found at VideoClassAction.com.
The deal, which received preliminary approval from the court in January 2025, covers all United States residents who possessed and used login credentials for any of CBN’s websites and requested or obtained video content from and/or through any of the sites between March 28, 2022 and May 28, 2024.
According to the initial lawsuit against CBN, the defendant transmitted consumers’ private information using a snippet of code, called the Meta pixel, that was embedded on CBN.com; CBNFilms.com, the site for its CBN Family streaming service; CBN.com/partners/video; and the site for CBN Animation’s Superbook, Superbook.CBN.com.
The case accused Christian Broadcasting Network of violating the federal Video Privacy Protection Act (VPPA), which prohibits “video tape service providers” from disclosing information that identifies which video materials a person has requested or watched without first obtaining their consent.
To receive an equal share of the $4 million class action settlement fund, class members must file a valid claim form online or by mail by April 29, 2025. Individual settlement payout amounts will ultimately depend on how many valid claims are filed.
Head to this page to submit a CBN settlement claim form online. You’ll need to enter the class member ID provided in the settlement notice you may have received. Alternatively, you can download a PDF claim form to print, fill out and return by mail.
A final approval hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2025. The settlement website states that class members who file a timely, valid claim form should expect to receive their cash payout within 90 days after the deal is granted final approval from the court and any appeals are resolved.
The CBN class action settlement also requires the defendant to come into compliance with the VPPA by discontinuing its alleged use of the Meta pixel and other tracking technologies on its websites.
