Western Alliance Bank Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach impacting Western Alliance Bank.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
Western Alliance Bank recently reported a data breach involving unauthorized access to personal information due to a vulnerability in a third-party vendor's secure file transfer software. The breach occurred between October 12 and October 24, 2024, but Western Alliance Bank did not learn of the incident until January 27, 2025. An investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor exploited the software vulnerability, gaining access to files containing sensitive information such as names and Social Security numbers. Dates of birth, financial account numbers, driver’s license numbers, tax identification numbers, and passports may have also been exposed, if provided to Western Alliance.
A total of 21,899 individuals were reportedly affected by the data breach impacting Western Alliance Bank.
According to a report from Cybernews.com, Western Alliance Bank may have been one of the victims of a data breach of the Cleo file transfer platform. The Russia-linked Cl0p ransomware gang reportedly claimed in December 2024 to have stolen data from over 60 companies that use Cleo's software.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Western Alliance Bank to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
