Washington National Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Washington National data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Washington National Insurance Company has recently experienced a privacy breach that may affect the personal information of some individuals. The company discovered that a sophisticated threat actor targeted the cellular account of a senior officer using a "SIM swapping" attack. This attack was made possible when a retailer for one of the top nationwide wireless carriers allowed the senior officer's phone number to be switched to the threat actor's phone without proper authorization.
The personal information that may have been exposed includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and policy numbers. A total of 20,360 individuals are believed to be affected by this breach.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Washington National to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
