Virginia Farm Bureau Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Virginia Farm Bureau data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Virginia Farm Bureau (VFB) was informed by the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency of a potential breach in their systems around October 11, 2022. Following this, VFB began experiencing ransomware encryption on some of its systems on October 16, prompting the company to shut down affected systems.
An investigation revealed that an unidentified actor accessed some of its systems between October 6 and October 16, 2022, potentially compromising sensitive information such as names, driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers and financial account details belonging to individuals who have received services from VFB or are current or former employees.
According to a notice letter VFB sent to potential victims in February 2024, the incident may have also impacted its affiliated companies, including Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company; Countryway Insurance Company; Employee Benefits Corporation of America; Benefit Design Group, Inc.; Custom Health Care, Inc.; and Virginia Farm Bureau Service Corporation – Health Care Consultants division.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Virginia Farm Bureau to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
