Thompson Coburn Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Thompson Coburn data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Thompson Coburn LLP has disclosed a data security incident that compromised the protected health information of 305,088 patients of the law firm's client, Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS).
The firm detected suspicious activity in its network on May 29, 2024, and subsequently began an investigation with help from third-party forensic specialists. The investigation revealed that certain files were accessed or extracted by an unauthorized individual between May 28 and May 29, 2024.
A review of these compromised files found they included various types of information belonging to certain Presbyterian Healthcare Services patients, including names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, medical record numbers, patient account numbers, prescription and treatment details, clinical information, medical provider data, and health insurance information. The exact information compromised in the Thompson Coburn data breach varies for each individual and was detailed in notification letters the law firm has sent to those affected.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Thompson Coburn to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
